about us

Welcome to Ozumo, a Japanese restaurant located on the stunning Embarcadero in San Francisco. Step into a world where culinary excellence meets captivating ambiance, where traditional Japanese flavors are elevated to new heights. At Ozumo, we invite you on a journey of tradition and authenticity, offering an unforgettable dining experience like no other. Ozumo offers exquisite robata grilled items and masterfully crafted makimono. Ozumo was one of the pioneering establishments to combine sushi and robata cooking under one roof. It invites you on a culinary adventure that celebrates the rich traditions of Japanese cuisine.

At the age of 18, Chef Yamamoto embarked on his culinary journey, training at the Michelin-starred restaurant Kagaman in Osaka for eight years. He continued to refine his skills at Sushimoto in Mie. After recently moving to the U.S., Chef Yamamoto served as the executive chef at Pabu in San Francisco. Now on the West Coast, he passionately pursues his goal of creating excellent food and ensuring the satisfaction of the restaurant's patrons.

Ozumo's captivating design, crafted by the world-renowned Japanese-based Super Potato, continues to delight diners, even years after its inception. The restaurant has introduced chilled, high-quality sake to its guests, curating one of the finest collections from Japan's most esteemed brewers.

Indulge in the concordant taste, texture, and artistry that awaits you at Ozumo.
